Coriander is known as a spice and medicine since ancient times. The origin of the name is rather unpleasant: He leads from the Greek word for bug ("koris"), because coriander leaves have a bug-like smell.
Dry roasted seeds have a strong, very attractive aroma, reminiscent of orange peel. The ground seeds have a pleasant mild and sweet.
In every Indian household ample ground coriander is used: curry powder, garam masala. It is also well suitable for for dishes from the Middle East, for the flavor of chutney or tomato or bechamel sauce.
